PR firm announces "run" for office

Don’t worry; it’s not a real campaign.

Murray Hill Inc. is, however, real. The public relations firm caters to progressive causes, but apparently it practices tongue-in-cheek satire too. Here's a great interview with "human designee" William Klein.

The thought of a corporation running for office (with a “human designee” filling in the seat) seems absurd, but then again, these are absurd times. The Supreme Court majority has recognized the corporation as an American citizen with full-fledged rights, so what’s to stop them from granting them the right to run for office?

When one considers the impact of SCOTUS’ recent ruling, this kind of situation doesn’t seem too far off. General Electric won’t be running for the Senate in 2012, but expect to see plenty of corporations using their newly-granted political power to sway the American government into lifting restrictions on business and political matters.

The power-grabs will not take place overnight, but occur in increments. That’s why it’s important for Americans left and right to take a stand against this ruling.
